"Jake - Has Bad Luck So You Don't Have To" (murdersofa)

Damn this is a nice car. Some unedited JPEGs from my camera follow. I try being creative. I’m only partially successful.
The dashboard is neat. Four physical gauges and an LCD below the speedo. You can reconfigure the LCD to display whatever three things you want.
The interior is NICE. No parts binning (except for the stalks). Even the window switches are Caddilac, unlike the GMC Yukon I shot right after this which had the switchgear all lifted from a goddamn Equinox. The steering wheel controls are nice and clicky. Actually, so is the touch screen. The HVAC and audio controls and that big touchscreen all have haptic feedback— that is, when you push them, the whole panel “knocks” to simulate pushing a real button. It doesn’t *feel* like a real button, but it’s a real feedback mechanism to tell you “Hey, you actually did something” without having to look for a visual cue. A+ on that. GM, put it in all of the cars pls.
No complaints about its face. When you see one of these things coming towards you on the highway you KNOW it’s a cadillac because all you see is the ‘V’ shape of those light bars on either side framing the car and making it look downright SINISTER at night.
Seriously the exterior lights on this car are A+
The Cadillac logo is even embossed in the “fins” of the tail lights.
Ok, I lied. The grille looks a bit plasticky from this angle.

Love, love, love the new CTS, except for the capacitive controls, even with the haptic feedback.

I agree with everything you said except about the gauge cluster. I find it boring and not up to the design standard of the rest of the interior. I saw a prototype of this car in black coming up behind me on the way to Lansing back before they went on sale, and it was just as you say. A sinister missile growing in my rear view mirror. Very cool.

In my opinion, this is one of the best looking new cars on the market right now.

Oh my god that’s hideous. That font straight from the TrailBlazer. And at the same time they were making this they had this. The DeVille instrument cluster, which is a million times classier.
Seriously the bezels in that 2003 CTS... oh god why. The Deville and Seville were the last good Caddys until the late-model like the CTS above.
